The Parallelism research group uses a variety of parallel platforms:
- A multi-node, multi-processor cluster built on switched Fast Ethernet and ATM networks (more information can be found at the MegaCluster Web site);
- A 4-way Pentium III Xeon 500MHz multiprocessor.
Older platforms that the group has used include:
- An ICL Goldrush MegaServer, a commodity-hardware multicomputer;
- Encore Multimax 530, 320 and 120 systems - shared-memory multiprocessors (up to 20 CPUs) based on the National Semiconductor 32000 CPU family, running a version of Unix.
